The Connecticut Alliance for Tennis + Education (CATE) was formed by a group of enthusiastic tennis players who wanted to support the incredible efforts of the Community Tennis Associations in our Connecticut neighborhoods. CATE is currently serving the children of Norwalk and Stamford and serving over 1,000 children each year. The Alliance is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. These tennis programs work in our most economically challenged communities providing a path to success for the children living there.
Tennis is a wonderful sport to bring to at-risk kids. Aside from the obvious benefits of exercise, teamwork and goal setting, these tennis programs provide the children with a safe place where they are exposed to positive adult role models and opportunities for higher education. By engaging youth in the exciting game of tennis in the neighborhoods where they live, these CTA’s are able to then cast a larger net and lend structure that many children do not see at home. Aside from on-court instruction and competitive play, our programs provide:
- Academic support and standards
- Life skills coaching
- Nutritional education
- Educational Field trips
- College and Career counseling
These Community Tennis Associations are changing lives of children. It is the Alliance’s mission to continue to support and promote these programs that are doing such important work. Our goal is to grow The Alliance Membership within the very generous and supportive tennis community of Connecticut. To pay forward to the game that has given us all so much.
